Yup. The damage can be assigned wherever the Orgg’s controller wants,
and carnage ensues.

Well, you can still assign damage to the Knight as you see fit...
protection will just prevent that damage from being dealt. Same as
always.
But on a far more important note... just what is an Orgg is anyway?
Some kinda half Orc, half Ogre maybe. Spice with rabbit and tasmanian
devil to taste? Sheesh.
